I am a mage and one of the main reasons I wanted this ability is to increase my maximum damage to blast my enemies to ashes, and now I am really dissapointed. I wonder if the problem is a bug in the program.
The Neatness skill does two things:
-Each time you take a level in the skill, you gain the mana boost. It's one time per skill level, not per item destroyed.
-Each time you destroy an item, you gain crystals or runes. The number of crystals goes up based on the item's level. You only gain runes for level 4 and 5 items, and even then, about half the time you get crystals instead.

The main advantage of this skill is the accrual of extra crystals and runes. In effect, you can convert gold to crystals and runes (by buying items, then destroying them). The Mana boost is a minor bonus.
