I'm certainly not
that old, but my first computer experience was indeed typing 3-4 pages of basic into a ZX81 - with no tape - with one of those dodgy 16Kb RAM packs that if you wiggled it, it crashed. In the end the "game" was two solid blocks. One moved horizontally. The player moved the other one vertically to intercept the other one. Oh my days.
I must've been, what, 5 years old? Maybe 6?
