PNY GTX 580 263.09 WHQL
6 GB Corsair DDR3 oc'ed with xmp 1.2 profile
Obsidian Series 800D ATX Gaming Case
Samsung 24.6" @1920x1080

My GPU runs at about 40 Celcius normal...under a load in Rise of Flight, WOP, Call of Duty, FSX, DCS A10, DCS Black Shark, or BFBC2 it runs at about 70 celcius. I can tell you, my case is not the problem. My cooling is not the problem. My GPU is not the problem. I have three, yes three extra cooling fans in the case. two blowing on my CPU and my GFX card, and one pulling hot air out. This is the ONLY game where temps go above the mid 70s. I even ran Rise of Flight for three hours the other night and checked and not once did my card peak above 73 celcius under load.

My headphones arent the problem either. Have you ever heard a GTX 580 fan running at above 4000 RPM?? Its insanely loud. THe auto fan control is running this high to keep the GPU from frying.

So saying that my configuration, oh wait im sorry..let me say it like you did, MY CONFIGURATION is the problem is quite a stretch considering that my configuration seems to work in every other single game I play, not to mention every other game I dont play anymore such as IL2-1946, SH4, Mafia II, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor,...shall I continue the list?
Maybe you need a bigger air inlet!! Try cutting a 5 inch circle for a large fan to draw more air in. the internal fans are only blowing whatever your case air temp is unless you have cut holes and mounted fans drawing air from outside the case.
