Hi Folks
I was looking into where COD stands on the PR front.

So review wise things are still on middle ground,
Although when it comes to user reviews specially in the german amazon sales page of the game gets a pretty negative impression.

So here is how the game stands on the global review scale, Im also baffled about Gamespots early review although beyond the rating and negative awards it is written pretty fair although i think that the state of the art graphics and DM should have been taken into account a little more.
One thing that stands out for me is that in most reviews even the negative ones there seems to be hope for the future of COD.
I think that the target audience (Simmers) will still buy the Product. The actual problem is that as it is actually the game caters more to onliners than to offliners (With the exception off filmmakers).
In my humble opinion now that the hardest performance issues have been adressed with the latest patches, For the online player the game is more than sufficient and dogfights are a joy to behold.
Now the team should focus on making the game interface a little more friendly specifically for quick missions. Setting the quality of Ai of each airplane in the flight as well as its loadout, the old Il2 interface with its intuitive treelike branching is the right way to go.
To make the game more attractive for offliners, it should be a goal to implement a dynamic campaign even if it is a Bob oriented old IL-2 style campaign to beginn with, it could be built up in a evolving fashion expanded later with new features.
What worries me is that for a game to evolve in this way funding is needed. And funding comes through sales, the worst case scenario for this sim would be silent hunter 5 (Which also was gravely hurt by Ubisofts dumb copy protection) ergo no more patches.
You may differ, but I make an appeal to support this rapidly growing ugly duckling so that it may grow become a swan and unfold the longterm potential that guided the vision of its creation.
Regards
Hunger
