You're kinda right and kinda not. In 1939 they did convert the Merlin II engines in Spit I and HC I to Merlin III engine that allowed to fit either the de Havilland Hamilton three bladed two-pitch propeller, or a Rotol three bladed propeller (which was variable).
In iCoD there's modelled two HC (with DH 50 and ROTOL) - the DH 50 is the said two-pitch prop and the Rotol is the variable and they are modelled correctly.
Unfortunately I'm at work right now and I can't confirm this, but IF I remember right there was Spit Ia , Spit I and Spit IIa.
The Spit IIa for sure use variable prop-pitch as it has the Merlin XII.
But I can't remember if both or only the other of the Spit I has the dual-pitch.
Either way would be correct really... (as I think the current planes are intented to be the models of the beginning of the war (1939) not of the time of the Battle of Britain is fought (1940)).
I'm quite certain there will be more planes available - with the models of 1940 and variable pitch props on spits... and the later E-models and first F-models for the Bf-109 (that were present during the BoB).
