It may have not chopped through an aircraft in real life but it could have caused enough damage to reduce its structural integrity. To see this we would need a third person perspective.

Im giddy from seeing the Bf110/Bleinhem NOT blowing up upon contact + the 110 CAN fly with a portion of its wing missing.
