More functions and more systems in aircraft would be a better way to continue IL2, a more advanced damage system when hit by the enemy, for example.

That things are rare because pilots were trained, made checklist before flying and tried to fly their ships in the proper way. If they flew wrong, at 110% almost time, overheating, the failures must be much more frequent. If not why they have checklists before the take off or procediments to engage the resources of the aircraft.
