IL-2 has no native support for WideScreen, unfortunately. Hopefully some day
But you can get the screen to cover the full screen without the annoying black edges very easily.
First go to IL-2 folder and look for a file named conf.ini and open it with NotePad. At the top of the file you see the resolution etc. There is a selection SaveAspect=1. Change it to SaveAspect=0, save and exit. Now you have full screen, only loading screen and menus have the black edge, but in game it is full screen.
