Excellent diagrams, i just wish i knew German (i don't like automatic online translators very much)
As for a strategic bombing campaign option for a future sim, that would be a wonder to see.
The sheer size of the map would pose a problem though, but workarounds exist. If such an add-on came at a sufficiently later date, maybe the PCs of the day would be able to support such a map.
If not, maybe we would have a choice of two maps: a 1:1 scale map with reduced detail so as to be able to run well, for the extra difficutly and navigation challenges (esp returning home with battle damage), and a 1:2 scale map for shorter flight times and higher detail ground textures.
My personal dream scenario is a 1:1 scale map and a 24/7 online dynamic campaign with day/night cycles, where people can schedule flights to take off and form up/cruise as AI but then "jump" into the pilot's seat and take control at their own discretion (maybe even password protecting your own plane so that you can reserve your place in the raid), fly the raid and then relinquish control back to the AI once out of harm's way (eg, midway between Holland and the UK).
This way we wouldn't have to fly the full 6 hours to Berlin and back, while we would still be faced with the realistic considerations of balancing the hauling of all that fuel and combat load across the real distances.
You could set aside a weekend evening for some flying, draw up a flightplan and have the built-in interface calculate arrival times for each waypoint. Then, you could set the departure time so that the ETA to the waypoint where you take over would be a suitable one for you and your group.
I mostly fly 190s in IL2, but if we ever have something like that in SoW i think i'll fly a lot of bomber sorties or mixed ranger-style missions for both sides. Luftwaffe night fighters and Ju188 raids on one hand, lancasters and pathfinder mosquitos on the other, or even daylight stacked sweeps with some mustang IIIs to scout out ahead followed by a flight of mosquitos on the deck for search and destroy missions, with target results tracked by the dynamic campaign engine and influencing the outcome, but not directly visible to the player in order to force people to also fly photo recon. That would be the holy grail for me and i really believe that if SoW is a succesful series and people want to fly and develop something like this, we could see it in the next 5 years.
