It doesn't matter if it's the norm or the exception, just look at the games that did. Rise of Flight, all Total war games with Shogun 2: Total War as latest incarnation, Diablo III, Starcraft 2, Star Wars: The old Republic etc. All games from companies that know how to built up some hype before release and get good sale numbers as reward. It just isn't enough to have a good product if people don't know about it.

At least they can find a website and get some infos abou SOW without searching the forum and reading through all development updates of the last few years. That is the absolute minimum you need today if you want to sell any software to more people than just the few hardcore fans.

Exactly because of this little fact I wonder why no signs of any kind of marketing campaign show up, with a dedicated website as a very basic first step. Especially since Oleg said years ago that one is in development.
