If you're talking about manipulating scrolls that you get from maps, then no, they are pre-set when you start a new game. The scrolls on the battlefield, however, can be modified. All you need to do is try digging before each unit has moved and replaying the battle if the result is not satisfactory. There is no guarantee that another one can spawn even if you tried all your units in 5 rounds (which is 25 different digouts with full army), though.
