I was reading Donald Caldwell's "JG26" again, the Battle of Britain chapter, and saw mention of the ME109E-4/N which had the high altitude performance (on 95 octane fuel). I decided to Google that plane, and found this Youtube video. There are several other planes listed there, but you know how that goes; like the roots of tree.
I'll see what I can scrounge up.
