I have questions about IL-2 1946/WoP. Does the same thing happen there online and do they have a target 'padlock?' view in sim mode? The only other Sim games I've really played were the MS Combat Flight Sims 1,2 & 3 and they had that option. (I loved CFS2.. the pacific one). I'm curious as this is the first IL game I've played and was wondering if target view in sim was frowned upon by the hardcore simmers?

I, for one & probably not the best qualified to answer such a question because I much prefer the single payer skirmish, player constucted missions & campaign experiences ijn place of the wham, bam, gone & deliberate crashing of multiplayer but what I do know from 1946 is that the host can set all parametres before the game, such as allow target padlock etc. Wings of Prey I understand, is no different to Birds of Prey other than in SIM, you now have the benefit of playing in third person, but still without the padlock.
I personally believe that the whole target padlock thing contradicts what a flight game should be all about, as part of the skill of a real life pilot & a gamer, is to be aware of his surroundings at all times & not having the game engine do it for you. I know I'm in the minority here & that's just one reason why I prefer single play over multiplay. This is why I place so much emphasism on the motion tracking system. Everyone plays differently.
