I don't know how much the manufacturers charge to release the patch, but the average game industry worker salary in the UK* is around ??30k/year (more if they're contract workers rather than permanent employees). So if you have 5 guys working on it for 1 month that is ??12,500 in salary, with rent and bills on top.

*Note - we get shafted compared to our US counter-parts, but then I wouldn't want to speculate on the Russian salaries.
