First off, being able to join mid game is fixed - so good deal there.
But restricting team play to axis vs allies only? Seriously? First off, when jets are allowed in axis/allies servers in 1946 it is easy as hell to just jump in a 262 and blast prop planes out of the sky by bouncing them with spam loads of mk108 cannon fire. This will not go over well.
So this needs to be dropped a as rigid setup- just let the host decide what the limits they want to set or not. They can limit sides to year of service, nationality, prop, jet, and difficulty settings; just basically give them the options that were already in IL2 1946 to allow host to decide what type of multiplayer experience they want.
I don't think taking the flight models from IL2, pimping the graphics, but then reducing features found in the original is a step foward.

I kind of agree. The allied v axis is a bit odd. I can imagine it would be easier to insert more advanced settings in a PC version.
