the Spit MkIX is a nice bird to fly. You can also unlock the Spit XVI for getting 100 kills online with any spitfire. Its a nice bird to. But the better pilots tend to stick with the IX.
Many of the issues you address will be updated in the patch, which is released very shortly so try not to wory to much.

use the hawker hurricane, its the best fighter plane in the game. Practically unstoppable in her. She will look after you. Anyone tells you otherwise.... ignore them, they are lying to you lol
