Single Mission: Escorting Sturmoviks

Hi Everyone,
I am pretty new to this online forum stuff and not a deeply serious gamer but absolutely loving the IL-2 BoP and it has opened my world to online gaming!!

Can anyone offer me any tips on the Single Mission: Escorting Sturmoviks, I just can't get through this level. I have completed the Campaigns in arcade mode as this is about my gaming level at the moment.

Any advice would be great!

Cheers

Single missions are harder than campaign missions, as a general rule for escort missions stay close and don't chase the attackers for too long, now he is leading you away and leaving the targets without protection (cant say the friendly AI is too bright).

Just wait for the single mission Baby Sitting where you must protect a red shirt for 8 minutes, though job.

You are right I am finding some of the Single Missions way harder than the Campaigns. I do get carried away chasing attackers. I try and assign targets to my flight but little seems to happen.
I did have a quick go of the Baby Sitting Mission and got it down to 1min 30secs left, so plenty more attempts left for me on that one!!

Yeah, it are the Bulge missions that are hard. I have exactly the same problems, the Sturmovik and Babysitter missions. The theater after gets real easy again. I reckon you just have to be lucky one time to get through.
If anyone has a special idea about these 2 missions, please do share :)

It's all about just staying with the fighter(s). If you stray too far away you'll lose. Just try and get a quick kill and then get back to the formation. Use your squad commands and have them chase after some of them since you can target two guys.

I just completed these 2 missions tonite. Finally!! It took me a while. For the "Escort Sturmoviks" mission I went off straight away after the first four 109's. I flew in that direction even before they were on the radar and got behind them. I think I downed 2 of them before they even got to the Sturmoviks. I just made sure to hassle the fighters that are attacking the Sturmoviks and somehow I completed it.

For the Babysitter mission... I just flew behind the single plane I was protecting and when anyone tried to attack I just chased them away or shot them down. The mainly just tried to get a few shots at them to chase them off and then reformed behind and above the La-5 into protect mode again.

I liked the babysitter mission. It made me get to practice staying close to a flight member, engaging and disengaging was fun, I liked this mission.

I tailed the escorted fighter just under 1km behind and engaged anyone lining up...

as for the sturmoviks I too sat just under a km behind and then went for anyone lining up. Be sure not to get dragged down by 109s diving for cover...if you don't get hem near the sturmoviks circle round and smoke a different fool

Once again thanks for all of your tips, I have just managed to nail the Escorting Sturmoviks level, it took 3 attempts but it worked. Also cruised through the Baby Sitter level, as you said I stayed 1km back and bagged anyone lining up behind him.

Not sure about the LA 5FN though seems very difficult to handle!?
