Problems finding an online game on LIVE

First off, I would like to say that I really enjoy the game. That being said, I have yet to find games available online to join, except for 3 freak instances a coupe of days ago. I have tried Arcade, Realistic and Simulator and any game type, and I get the message that there are no servers available. Now I understand that a game has there to be joinable, not one that is already started. I have also created games with different variables and have some luck sometimes having someone join. I have been an xbox LIVE gold member(and beta tester) for six years and realize that the multiplayer code is sometimes hard to get right at the onset, such was the case with Gears of War 2. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone on the development had addressed the problem yet.

I think the only 'problem' is lack of players right now rather than some technical flaw.
Get yourself added to the forum silver account (sticky at the top) and join in someones party is the only real solution I can offer.

There does never seem to be any games to join.

The way I got round it was to add a lot (40) friends to my list from people here on the forums. So we can invite each other to games. This does seem to be the best method of getting games.

You can add xYOSSARIANx if you like and I will invite you into games if I see you online. Then after every game you play send out a friend request to all the other players. This helps to build up a fairly decent group of people to play with. Oh and we(my friends) play all the game modes on realistic difficulty.

I manage to play now most evenings from 8pm-2am (UK time) in a room with 8-12 people in (from the US, Euro and Australia zones). I am generally in a party with 8 people who play together all night and we always invite the people who just played with us to rejoin a new game straight after.

You can also add the silver member here 'BirdsofPrey1C' and look through their friend list for people that have IL2-BOP.

Once you've found a decent little community you will not be short of games. The dogfighting online is EVERYTHING I always wanted from a WWII flying game, it's a real shame it is so hard to find a game if you're not playing with friends/party.

King Jareth,

I posted and sent a friend request for the silver account.

Yossarin

I will send you a friend request probably after work.

I appreciate everyone helping out. I am glad to know that there is not a problem with the game.

I strongly suspect there is a fault in the match making logic.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that last night, there was one person in the whole world sitting in a game waiting to play. Even with a low online population, one person...in the entire world...really?

And on PS3 we don't have the party feature, so you have to go through the whole painful process each and every game.

The game doesn't help it's own case either, because the way it is (currently) implemented will turn all casual players away. Why? Because casual players will only want to play arcade, and the damage model in arcade is so forgiving (to the victim) coupled with the fact that it's actually really hard to hit anything with your guns. So you're there chasing this guy for minutes on end, wearing him down then along comes a skilled player who steals your kill then kills you as well.

I think arcade mode should be a one hit kill, or near as dammit. The above situation is just too frustrating for the casual gamer. Plus it may then have the added advantage of pushing the less casual and more skilled into higher difficulties where they don't get insta-killed by noobs.

And while I'm here, a couple of niggles: when everyone ready's up, it would be nice for the screen to display a full set of ticks. Anal? Yes...so what :-P

And finally, the hangar should really wait until you stop scrolling through planes until it loads the model. Scrolling to the end of your list to check out a new unlock is truly painful.

Other than everything here, this game is a masterpiece IMO. WP devs:grin:

I completely agree. While I have found a very enjoyable experience playing realistic, arcade will be what the majority of gamers will be playing. I could not find a realistic game the other night, and no one seemed to be keen on joining my room so I said WTH I'll play a match of arcade. It was SOOO frustrating. It was nothing more then going head to head or turning for the entire duration of the match. On top of that, I would lay into my prey at a VERY close range, and it took an obscene amount of damage to even draw blood (or smoke as it were)

Yup Playing Online Arcade is just a waste of time. For online play I think the current realistic mode should have been the lowest skill mode, with sim being the same as it is now, and realistic having the same flight model as sim but also having the target indicators. I want to control my trim and flaps but don't want to kill my eyes after 5 minutes of concentrated staring at my moniter looking for one single moving pixel.

Red, I'm on that silver account. I hope to have a room going tonight with a few people. I'll check for you if we get going. Should be around 8:30EST. Mainly realistic, various game types.
There will be public spots.

Barring any unforeseen change in plans, I hope to be on that time as well, I'll keep an eye out for you

I think it's all updated with everyone added that has requested it. Wish I could join but I can't tonight. :(
