Does that mean that I just didn't connect to a game right and should keep trying, or is the IL-2 server really unavailable?

Just trying to give online a run on a saturday morning before Iowa beats Iowa State.

If you host a game you will be flying with people earlier.

It just means it can't find a host waiting to start a game, but IL2 does work fine online. Keep searching or host a match yourself, or party up with some forum members. Are you on the Xbox or PS3, post your gamertag/PSN name.

I got into a game. It was fun. Arcade, which isn't really what I'm looking for, but nonetheless, fun.

Learned a valuable lesson in the campaign mode today. Don't follow bombers. :)
