Damage text (when shooting enemy), down to server?

I recall that I used to see text saying when I'd hit an enemy's plane when in multiplayer (hit control cables/damaged aileron, that sort of thing) - is this down to the server setting or has it been removed from the game? It was quite nice for learning the ropes when you're on target.

Its still there in coop missions.

Don't know about dogfight servers I don't use those.

AFAIK it's serverside - at least the option to make the messages appear or not, is.

Ok, cheers both for the info.
I swear I used to be reasonable at this game! Not doing so well at the moment, a lot of the servers seem to have a disproportionate number of utter morons in them too (present company excepted I'm sure!), I used to be in the raf662 clan so could always be sure of a fair game.
Whilst picking your brains - is there a way of showing the message history? (Aside from hitting 'tab' which is hard to read and also shows a lot of other random garbage), quite often a message flicks past on the single line and I don't see it in time.

Turning on event log file will produced a file you can open with text editor to see your in game messages.

In the conf ini file in your IL2 directory

[Game]
eventlogkeep=1

Will produce a event logfile.

If you want to see the messages produced in the game "live" you will have to scroll down the list in the chat window unfortunately.
