Just a heads up for So. Calif. residents

$6 bucks gets you in, ...I'll be watching from a lawn chair in my back yard with T-bone steaks on the grill and a cold beer in my hand.8)

I am seriously envious of that warbird lineup. Put a steak on the grill for me and I will teleport from Chicago!

I've been looking forward to this all summer. I went to Chino, (Live only a couple hours away) and it was great. This should be good as well :D

LUCKY! I live in Phoenix, so I only get Luke Days every other year. I've tried to get out to Chino for the past four years, but something has come up at the last minute every time.:( Oh well, I'll make it eventually.

I was also at the Phoenix Air Races when this happened:

Don't worry, he bailed out, although he broke both of his legs. I bet he was far more bummed at the loss of the plane, though.:(

Man, that had to be intense. I heard he hit the tail on his way out. Ouch.

It was a dogfight display right? One of the planes was painted like a Zero.

That made me think me think of the Su-27 collision the other day. All three of the pilots punched out, but I heard that one of the ejction seats or parachutes didn't work correctly and killed one of them.

Chino isn't just great for their air show, but the museum, oh my god it's so great. They've got some of the actual war birds etc. It really is something for all plane enthusiasts to check out.

I think it was a race of some sort. I don't know exactly what they were doing, as I was away from the field (standing in line for the porta-jon, lol:grin:) I still got a good view. I didn't see his chute until after the fireball, so I thought the pilot got killed. You can't imagine what a relief it was to look up and see that he'd made it!

I'm not sure if he hit the tail or not. I think the paper said something about his parachute being designed for someone lighter, but that sounded strange to me so you could be right.
