Popularity of BOP?

How well do you think this game will do regarding sales and popularity? First person shooters are obviously an incredibly popular genre and for all intents and purposes BOP could be viewed as a type of FPS. When I went to EBGames to pre-order BOP the dude there had never heard of it. My wish is that it becomes a success as that will bring more money and opportunity to the devs.
What do you think?

The sad thing is there is still a lot of people out there that haven't heard of it.
I can't speak on behalf of other people but I haven't even played the demo and I know I'm going to love it. Flight gamers are a special group of people. And flight simmers are a rare breed.

Wait, please don't take offense but you're a Mod and you haven't played the demo? I'm not trolling just wondering.

Flight simmers are a rare breed and we can be very picky. What I've seen so far is an OK game that is obviously the best of it's genre (on account of lack of serious competition) but it is a Jack of all trades and a master of none...

Well, he owns a PS3 and Demo isn't on it yet, but from all the stuff we have discussed I'm sure he just about knows as much as we do and the fact it is very similar to IL2.

Sorry I have to disagree. I think it's a bit of a stretch to say it's similar to IL-2. In fact, how can you say that when there are so many unanswered questions that cannot be addressed because the publisher won't allow it? Granted I could have to eat my words if the game turns out to be better than the demo but to say BOP is similar to IL-2 really doesn't fly with me.

I didn't mean 100%, but that he should know what to expect. Especially from all the videos and pictures out now.

What I am saying is that this game looks awesome I bought the original IL-2 when it came out in 2001, Flight simulator X, Lock On, etc. etc. So I am no newcomer to the flight genre, I still have these games but I don't play them because I have a mac now and have no wish to put windows on my system.
Judging by the flight mechanics and detail that I have seen this would be a system seller for me if I didn't have a next gen console. I have a ps3 and do not have a Xbox but if this game was only coming to the Xbox I would buy one.

I just heard of this game last week when I saw the demo on the Xbox live marketplace. I thought... hmm this might be fun. I never played any of the IL2 series of games, but I have been playing flight sims for years. After playing through the demo I was so impressed with it I pre-ordered it immediately. It is by far one of the best looking flight sim games I have ever seen. The plane models, damage physics, terrain, etc. are suberb. I don't think this game will fly of the shelves, but it will keep me most occupied until MW2 comes.

I am just happy that a game like BOP is coming to the consoles.

I'll admit it's a bit worrying that a lot of people haven't heard of this game yet just a couple of weeks before the release.

However I believe this game can appeal to a lot of console gamers and once word gets out, there might be more console gamers interested in this game than one would expect.

Small sales due to niche market

Sorry but that is the truth. These type of games have a very limited appeal especially to the console market.
