New one

Hello all, I played IL-2 long time ago, that time only with my keyboard but after some time I forgot about this great simulator. Now I'd like to begin again, but I have couple of question for you people.

After reading some posts here I've already ordered Saitek Aviator flight stick, think that one is decent. I guess Ace Edge is awesome but that's really stuff for pro pilots, at least in my opinion.

Another thing is running IL-2 on Vista. Are there any problems with this ? I've got laptop with Vista on it and I'd be happy I will be able run game without troubles.

Then after seeing the forum a bit, I found out there are some mods or patches for the basic game. Can you give me some general info about this ? Also how the multiplayer works, some servers, mods etc.

Thanks a lot :)

I've a Saitek Cyborg 3d Gold that I use.

I also use a Saitek P8000 for the keys I use most often.

Would like the Saitek pedal system & throttle controller that they produce, but can't afford them at the moment.

You can run it just fine... just install the game outside your "Program Files" folder. If you don't the game won't start.
