can't play single player due to screen res

it keeps coming back with current display settings not supported.
Please set up desktop to minimum 16 bit color and 1024x720. My system is set at 1024x768 and 32 bit color. I used to be able to play this game in single player but now can't do that. Help me please.
Nvidia 7600gs
2 gig ram
3.2 gh processor
