i love ww2 flyers so i will probably get both il2 and hoe

IL-2 BoP will be my FIRST priority, although I’m sure I’ll pick up this game too. I can’t resist WW2 games (especially combat flight ones). The previous “Heroes of the Pacific” was enjoyable, but it was REALLY arcade based which was disappointing. I’m sure BoP will be 20x greater, but this could be fun too...

Thanks for the news. I've been on their forum for a while now and there hasn't been anything posted since I joined it 5 months ago.

And their website has been taken down as well. I always thought Ubi might try to save this game. Hopefully they will do better with this one than they did with hawx.

Looks like HoE will release in September also.

Yeah I mentioned this on the Atari Forums. I said what would probably happen is HOE would release when BOP did and the game would fail. I hope it doesn't but I know BOP will do better.

I would like to have both games to play, the more the merrier. It's funny how these companies try to market these games. What they should do is release it away from each other so they know their game will have a better chance.

It's not smart on Ubi's part, that is for sure. But i'll bet most people interested in these types of games will be getting both. I know I will.

One thing that is different about this game is the option called ace mode or something like that where you can pick a part on the plane you are chasing to get a ace kill. Weird.... Just do a search on youtube if you don't know what I am talking about. It's just not going to be as much of a simulation like BOP and thats what I'm after.

I completely agree. That ace mode reminds me of Brother in Arms: Hell's Highway a little bit with the zoom function. I don't know, when I first saw video of the game I thought it looked visually appealing; but the fact that BoP has captured mesmerizing visuals with the sim experience leaves no contest.

I haven't been this excited for a game (BoP) in a long, long time. I've been waiting for a flight sim on consoles for a long time and I love WW2 history - this seems like a dream come true. :)

I haven't seen a preview linked here, so here's one from IGN. It's from December 2008.

Seems pretty arcadey, with the ace kill feature, which you can apparently use to try to headshot enemy pilots (lol). The guy mentioned that there was quite a bit of aliasing, but then again they were apparently using composite cables for some reason. The screens look good but I can definitely see the jaggies he was talking about.
