Can't save games anymore
 

After defeating the staff that holds a mage prisoner in Arlania I can't save games anymore. Doesn't matter how many times I hit F5 or do a regular save, the savegame files are just not created.

I was using 1.6.4 and updated to 1.7. This happens in both versions. I'm under Windows Vista 32 Ultimate.

And it's just weird that right after I win the battle, the game loads a new battle (as if I hadn't just beat it) and on top of the battle ground I see the dialog windows where the mage is thanking me and giving me the reward. As soon as the last dialog is done I am returned to the map without the ability to save any more games. Not even auto save in castles. I even tried sailing to Islands of Freedom and see if it worked there to no avail...

Anyone know a fix for this?
