Buying Troups

Do the numbers of units in towns increase at any point.

due to some bad tactics at the start of my game i am running seriously low on swordsmen and so are the shops!

when u finish a quest for that specific town u get another stack of units and spells and items.

Thanks for that. Does that include the kings quests?

Yes. If you complete enough main quests, you'll have infinite troops in the kings castle.
