Well you can use that sort of thing with devicelink in IL2 so why not SOW as well ?

I don't think this will work with divicelink (will it?)... I don't think it needs "devicelink". Its just a bunch of switches and sliders, IL2 1946 should "see it" by default in the "hardware in-put" page of the game (right?).

I thought "devicelink" was used to run a bunch of "simulated" cockpit gauges from an external computer LCD screen. I thought divicelink was a way of communicating (reading) your ingame cockpit information (and/or recording information).

Yeah, your right. The only thing I can see that you might need devicelink for would be the gear indicator lights, but I wouldn't think them a big deal.

devicelink is just a protocol to import/export certain game data. most use is made of it's export of gauge functions(the most useful of which are disabled for online). common uses are simulated cockpits but it also has uses for charts of plane performance. its potential for inputs is a rarer occurrence but has been done (such as FCIP throttle quad proggy. there is also another project reaching beta stage to do both input and output functions in a single package (as i understand it)- this really will be useful to pit builders.

Saitek panel looks good for those who don't want to go the homemade route, nice to see yet more hardware options appearing in this niche area.
