Bridges - of doom....
I have done a few short tests with bridges and they have not been good :(
Chiefs more often than not try to drive around them, drop through the map and then are gone... :( Has anyone had any success or found any trcks to work around bridges? Also missing bridges cant be substituted for say a hanger because of the AI avoidence... Any help would be appreciated. :-P |

Crazy! Looking at SP mission "German attack bridges", with vehicles and train.
This mission don't have associated scripts. http://i48.tinypic.com/281spso.jpg Some vehicles cross the bridge, some sunk in the river, some refuse to cross and one go in reverse in opposite direction... Towed vehicles cross under the bridge despite the truck go on top... The train do the right thing. Edit - Conclusion: they cross the bridge because the 1st waypoint is inside the "invisible barrier" - see bellow. Some test mission Code:
[PARTS] There's only a truck in this mission. No planes. So after mission load click in BACK and the in FLY. The camera follow the car. Sometimes he cross the bridge: http://i48.tinypic.com/4uwj6t.jpg But most times (Restart the mission) he go to side and sunk in the river, and sometimes he cross over the water! But notice that just before the bridge that exist a invisible barrier here. For better visibility turn of the GRASS. Wheeled vehicles are able to jump over the "barrier", tracked vehicles stuck. The "slalom" at start is just to show the truck suspension work. :) And the concertina wire barrier... see. ;) Sokol1 |
Ths S and the P are interesting, I didnt see this before. Maybe this has some bearing on the action of crossing a bridge but what exactly? :idea: I wonder if they just need "correcting", maybe the game generated ones are a little too unpolished.
The AI just drove through the barbed wire which collapsed... I wonder how this would work with an object the AI could not destroy, such as a hedge hog. However I am not too keen on the obstacle idea. |
