How about a quick note from the devs that they are alive?
 

I don't know if the devs have ICMP filtered in their firewalls but a response to a ping request would be nice ;)

Just a quick message like:

"Hello! As there seems to be quite some speculation regarding our current situation we just want to say that we are still here everyone working hard on something we cannot tell you about yet! :)"

Depends on if you can ping back in time, pre oct 18th. If so then you might get an answer.

It's not speculation. Why else do you think you get thread deletions and no answers?

If the negative speculation were true, there wouldn't be any reason to delete threads, why bother, negative speculation doesn't hurt a development that's already dead. Negative speculation "does" hurt a development that still has a pulse. Unless its just the moderators deleting posts with no direction from the developers.

This thread is being deleted and becoming another of the threads that start and stop, don't get answered and then someone else comes along, thinks they are starting a new topic...and we repeat the whole process again.

Del Amitri summed it up nicely:
