MS Sidewinder Precision Pro 2...HELP
 

For some reason CLoD will not recognize my MS Sidewinder Precision Pro 2. It has been working fine since day 1 and thru all the updates including the recent official patch. Also, when I start a SP mission there are windows open I need to close. Very strange. Joystick works normally with FSX and ROF so I know it’s a problem with CLoD. Anyone else having this problem? Would welcome some help since now the game is really unplayable.

i use a MS Sidewinder FF2 and having no problems.what i would suggest is to unplug joystick and plug it back in again and i would also check game integrity through steam to make sure all the files are there and OR not corrupt.worse case is to uninstall and start over.it does not take to long anymore with steam installing games.might take a half hour.

smink, I flew CLoD fine in the early part of Saturday evening. When I fired it up again much later on all the controls had been set to default.
I think this might have been due to some sort of windows update last night.

Are you sure all you're key assignments are working too?

In the end I did system restoration back to a couple of days ago and all is well.

OK…still not having any luck mapping controls on keyboard or joystick. I have been playing IL2, CLoD and ROF from day one without any controls issues and all of a sudden I’m having major issues!!! Arg. I have completely uninstalled the game twice and still no pitch or yaw controls on joystick with initial start. I tried mapping these controls plus things like Esc, pause, guns, flaps, etc and all work perfectly for about 30 seconds and then all (keyboard and joystick) go away. Played ROF and everything worked perfectly. It’s definitely something in CLoD that has never been there before and can’t imagine I’m the only one who’s seeing this. Woiuld love some help or else I’ll have to wait for BOM and I might be dead by then.

I think I may have determined my problem...I'm an idiot. I think I was messing with my joystick button assignments and I must have had a duplicate assignment and it was going to auto pilot of something else that was tuning off all controls, including keyboard commands. I loaded an older controls profile and everything was working. Arg.

Any chance you could post your ConfUser file contents? I have a Sidewinder FF 2 also and I'm unable to get anything other than Pitch and Roll to work (no throttle, no rudder). I'm really at my wits end with this. Like you, my stick works with RoF (and IL-2 1946) but I'm having no luck getting it to work properly in CloD. It simply ignores any attempt to map axes or buttons to it in the game.

In fact, I bought a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro just yesterday (thinking the old Sidewinder might be the issue) and I'm having the exact same problem with that stick too. Only Pitch and Roll works, no rudder or throttle. This stick also works with RoF and IL-2 1946.

Since the last update you will have to re-asign all hotas controls for the MSFFB2
Dumping an old confuser file in there does nothing as I have many back ups and none worked for some reason so I had to redo the hotas settings manually.

Well, that's disappointing news because, as I stated above, I am completely unable to assign any buttons or axes at all on any joystick I plug in. The game simply refuses to allow any input from the stick while trying to assign buttons or axes.

I have the Steam version of the game. Is there any chance there's a difference between the Steam version and the fully-patched retail version?

I'm grasping at strawers here. I know people are using both sticks that I have and they work perfectly fine for them but they're not working for me. Ugh.

The Steam version is the fully patched retail version there's no other.

If you buy a dvd/hard-copy, it installs Steam and the game is installed from there.

Double click on the axes your trying to assign it brings up a box for input of the control assignation, its a bit tricky at first.

I will definitely try your settings above for HotKey pilotMove. Maybe I'll have better luck with that. I'll give it a shot when I get home from work.
