Fresh start in 1946
 

Hi all,

I've just ordered COD and in the meantime have installed my old copy of 1946 to get the feel of things again.
The game is installed and runs ok for me in windows 7, but i cant get it to play full screen. I've read several forum posts and have tried adjusting settings in the config file. Still no joy.
Is there a simple way to correct this? I would greatly appreciate any help.

You should just be able to edit the conf.ini to your native screen res.

Get it patched to 4.11.1 and then mod to HSFX 6. If you're interested in a campaign send me a PM.

Thanks...i've tried several different settings and i can't get it to go fall screen yet, so a bit frustrating!
I'm only patched to 4.08 at the moment. Do i need to install 4.09, 4.10 before 4.11?

What you need to do is change the resolution settings in the config file, and then change the file’s properties to ‘Read only’ when done. If you do not do this, the game will set it back to the max 4:3 ratio allowed in the set-up routine. The menus will still be displayed in a 4:3 format, but the game will run in the resolution you have chosen ;)

You need all the patches and in order.4.09>4.10>4.11>4.11.1.

It is a good idea to start the game after each patch to check the version number to make sure the patch installed correctly.

Update English/International 4.07m, 4.08m, 4.09m or 4.10m to 4.10.1m

Or you may wait for 4.12 which will include native widescreen support!

It is some time since I've had il-2 installed on my PC, but when I last used it although the config.ini tweaks would change the gameplay to full widescreen, the menus and load screen would remain at 4:3. This will be fixed in the upcoming 4.12. So if you are expecting to see the menu screens in widescreen you will not get it in any stock version including 4.11.

That said you should be able to get the main gameplay happening in widescreen. I think there was another setting needed in config.ini AS WELL AS changing width and height to get it to work. I can't remember which additional setting it was, so I've copied the relevant part of my old, saved config for you to check.

Try making sure that the settings in red are the same in your conf.ini. Hopefully that will do it.
