Issue with I-16 Type 18 freezing Il-2
No biggee but. . .
I have Il-2 patched to 4.11.1m (completely unmodded). I just noticed that when I end a session using the I-16 Type 18, then resume Il-2 later, I have a problem. That is, after reaching the main menu and selecting Quick Combat, after doing so, Il-2 hangs. Only the screenshot of the F4U shooting down a Zero appears. I then need to go to the task manager to exit. I cannot do anything further until I delete the last quick. Although I have not tried every other aircraft as the last quick mission, only the I-16 Type 18 thus far causes this. Has anyone else experiened this with any the or any other aircraft? Is there a solution? Thanks. |
Thought about this but I'm not really sure. If a specific asset is freezing the game my guess is that something has become corrupted.
Install the last few patches (in order) and see if the problem is fixed as a start. |
I reinstalled from 4.08 forward. And this helped except. . .
Discovered after my last post that the same problem occured with the F2A and A6M2 - if they were used in the last Quick mission, the game would freeze when next started and Quick Combat chosen. (I haven't tried all other aircraft yet, but I did find these were an issue, too.) After reinstialling, the Il-2 Type 18 and the F2A no longer cause the freeze, but the A6M2 does. Go figure. |
Either you're having an unrelated problem.... or one of your patches is corrupt somewhere.
Perhaps you should redownload all of them as well. A bit of a pain but maybe it'll help. This is largely a trial an error thing until you find the right combination. |
IceFire:
Thanks for your help. It was tedious, but I re-downloaded (from Mission4Today) then re-installed the patches - 4.08 to present. So far, this seems to have corrected the issue with the three offending aircraft and I haven't noticed a problem with any others thus far. |
Great news! I suspect one of the patches was corrupted somehow in the download and that caused the problem. It does happen from time to time.
Hope it continues to work well! |
