Release Beta through Steam

Is there any reason why the beta patches are not released via Steam? I've held off installing it as I don't want to muck around with my installation too much.

I don't know what the mechanics of it are or if it is too time consuming or expensive to release a patch via Steam. It makes sense to me to do it though.

They're not released through steam because they're beta patches. You just answered your own question :)

They're for testing.

.copying over a 'parts' folder into your game directory will not muck up your installation...its as easy as 'check file intergrity' via steam options to get it back to where you have it now...all personal settings will remain the same

Steam has to verify patches before the roll them out to their content servers. RO2 required a separate beta client download in order to separate it from the official version.

Its easier for them to release them for us to downlaod, its pretty difficult to mess up your install with steam- if you get anything wrong you can verify the integrity of your game and it redownloads to the official version.

They do not release the BETA via Steam because there are still features disabled!

Hood, install is dead easy. Just drop that folder in and go. I would clear your cache before starting though.

Try not to get your hopes up though.....

The last official patch was an alpha, so it seemed logical to me. Anyway, question answered.
