Watching live unveiling of Bomber Command Memorial
 

Channel surfing here in Oz and just happened to see this live feed of The Queen attending the dedication of this memorial to Bomber Command. Prayers, hymns and heartfelt speeches. Very moving and never thought I'd see the day.

There's a new documentary on the Yesterday channel later today (9.00pm UK time), narrated by Stephen Fry entitled 'Who Betrayed the Bomber Boys?'

I'm hoping the interest this memorial generates will finally exert enough pressure to initiate some governmental input to its cost and upkeep.

It's taken too bloody long though. Bomber Command deserved this immediately after the war, and Harris definitely should have got his peerage.

I'm happy it's finally been achieved.

They should get their medal. It's a travesty that they haven't so far!
