Feature or Bug?
Could it be that the dev-team has forgotten to seperate the keyboard assignment for the gunner position and the pilot?
It is easy to go around by deleting or new assign the buttons for the movement, but how can I disconnect my forward firing MGs with my gunner MG? This happend in single player mode (free flight over france) with the Bf 110. And since ATAG_Dog had the same movement problem in the BR.20 I think it's a general problem. Quote:
1. make confirmation faster and 2. to check if the last point (stuttering movement) is just a setup failure on my side Gunner problems: Gunner Movement = Trim - confirmed Bf 110/single, Ju 87/single, through ATAG_DOG BR.20/multi? Gunner fire = Pilot fire - needs confirmation! confirmed for Bf 110/Single, Ju 87/Single For those 2 above please write A/C and Single-/Multi-Player(alone/together[pilot + gunner = 2 player]) Quote:

I think part of it is game design. I read the instruction booklet that came with the sim and there is a section on gunning and how they wanted to make it much harder and more realistic in this sim.
I find it almost too hard though, and it's not very intuitive. I wish it controlled a little more like the IL2 gunner positions did by default, using the mouse but tweaking it a bit to make it more realistic. How about something like this? Your mouse controls the gun aim, you can slide the turret any way you want by pressing a "mount" key, then press this key again when you have the turret setup at the angle you want. How it goes back to mouse control. Pressing another key reloads the gun, and have a right click for "aim down sight". If anyone has ever played Red Orchestra 2 and used their cover system with a MG34 machine gun this will make more sense. I think they if make made something like this it would be a lot more fun and less clunky, yet still be more realistic and challenging than original IL2. |
After reading the manual again, which also states that you can use the mouse, I remembered that I have to press the "F10"-key to jump into firing mode. Stupid me...
So the 3.point is a resolution problem of the warthog throttle. So this one is solved, that only leaves the other 2 as key mapping problems. Is there a way to invert the Y-axis of the mouse for the gunner? It drives me nuts to scroll down, when I want the MG to move up. |

Dont feel bad Kodoss, the gunner positions need some tweaking.
The Br. 20 top gunner is totaly reversed and is very hard to defend from:evil: The machineguns jam everytime a fighter is on the 6:evil: (I think my blue guns are made in a red country!). FPS suffers when fighters get on 6 as well. I do think that the gunners will be very effective once they fix them;) The mounting system and the realistic movement are cool though  |

I think now that the setup is a feature from the developers. Bug: The only bug is that the "MG-firing" button[airplane-setup] overrides the "choosen weapon firing" Button[general-setup]. Which means, when you sit in the gunner position of a Bf 110 or Ju 87 and you press the "MG-firing" button, all MGs fire (front and gunner). Easy to check when the gunner then reloads and front-MGs still firing. There are 2 ways to resolve this problem: 1. when you are in gunner position only "choosen weapon firing"[general] will activate the MG in front of your sight[gunner MG]. This is the solution which I prefer because you can still use your front MGs with "MG-firing" Button. Or 2. When in gunner position you can fire the gunner MG with "MG-firing" button but can't use the front MGs. I will write this into the Bugtracker later and add an link in my Bf 110 bug fest threat. Feature: Would be nice if we could reverse the movement to our liking and adjust the speed of the mouse, without being able to change max. turn-rates of the gunner/turret. Then more people would choose the gunner position online from time to time. Missing: As I tested the firing positions of the Ju 87 and the Bf 110, i came to the conclusion that a view-position is missing. When you sit in the Ju 87 you can press "F1" and can switch between aiming[direct behind the MG] and free mode. When you sit in the Bf 110 you are always in the aiming mode. Which means you can only look through the big aiming cross, when the MG is in firing position. That also reduces your sightfield. Edit: By the way where are the other player/tester? 3 days and only one post... Looks like bugtracking isn't taken serious here, but whining is... |
