Purchased the A2A B377 today and...

holy moly! Do you like switches? Check! Do you like high maintenance multi-engine vintage aircraft? Check! Do you like having a virtual flying career? Check! Do you like to serve your passengers two hot meals in one flight? Check! Do you like starting up 112 cylinders and hear them roar in perfect harmony? Check! Do you like to blow a 60$ hole in your wallet?......check....

Absolutely love this thing, been itching to buy it for some time now, price tag kept me away. Now, after just a short while with it, it's such an amazing aircraft. If you have FSX and have a similar checklist as above, go get it! it's actually worth the price point...though I wish it was smaller

I just bought the A2A Wings of Power 3 Spitfire Ia/IIa and am very impressed with the detail and overall quality of product. If you already have FSX (I didn't) then it's only $29.99 as an add-on. You can bundle on A2A's Accusim package for a little extra -- but then the add on addiction kicks in! LOL

I hasten to say, though, that this is all apples-to-oranges to Cliffs of Dover. If you can fly the CoD Spits OK, then the transition to the A2A (with all its added switches, levers, pumps etc etc etc) is swift. If anything, it gave me a greater appreciation for what the 1C devs took on in modelling the array of fighters and bombers in CoD. The two sims go in two different directions which for me is great: one is a combat sim set in the 1940's, the other a highly-detailed civilian sim which teaches a great deal about one particular aircraft (Spitfire) -- less guns of course, but lots of other systems modelled in.

I spend FAR more time with Cliffs of Dover flying online, but now and again I really enjoy firing up the A2A Spit and putting it through its paces.

And now there's the DCS P51D......with guns! LOL

I think it's on the far edge of what is acceptable to charge for a single plane add-on. Still, compared to other FSX payware planes, it's waaaay beyond in quality and features. I bought it bundled with the "Captain of the Ship"/accusim thingie and it's much more than just a regular 3D model and FM package. You have wear and tear on engines for example, which is a huge deal for immersion for me personally and one of the main reasons I shelled out for it. You get a career mode that tracks your distance flown and grades your piloting skills etc. Basically, it could be a sim of it's own and it kind of is since A2A use their "sim within a sim" tech for their aircrafts. It's worth it, for me at least. I like CloD as a combat flight sim but A2A aircraft is when you just want "pure" simming. Different experiences, both very good at what they are doing.

Man oh man! I think I want that P-51 but my simming budget is spent for this month at least:(. I also noticed there's a third-party MiG-21bis on the way for DCS, I'm saving my dough for that one for sure:).

Sounds good and yes I do have a similar check list to you, might go look this one out.

BTW if you like a virtual flying career get yourself Air Hauler for FSX, awesome.

Yes, I've been looking at that Air Hauler add-on recently. Might try it out.

Air Hauler really is very good, if you buy it get the boxed ver for the manual, always prefer something like that to .pdf's ... I'm old school you see :) I got it new on Ebay for about £20.

Just looking at the A2A B377 bundle with Captain of the ship pack, total price = 59.98 USD and thats 37.3184 GBP in my money, if I go for this (and I'm seriously tempted) do you think I need the captain of the ship pack given that its a discount bundled this way? Does it really add a lot more?

I see I can download the manual for free, I'll do that just now and give this purchase some serious consideration.

Thanks for posting about this.

A2A make the best stuff for FSX IMHO.
