The new sound bug in the ALPHA patch

I just want to confirm that this is an "issue" not only on my computer...

In the bugtracker thread
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=30906
it is listed as the nr 6 on the bug that most want to have fixed is the "sonar sound " bug. Basically that you can hear other planes approaching on your six o clock.

Now in the latest alpha patch on my computer this "sonar sound" bug is gone!
Can anyone else confirm it?
Start a mission on the ground with a wingman in FMB. Wait until he has his engine started. Dont start your own engine!!

Now, in the current patch you cannot hear anything outside your plane when your CANOPY IS CLOSED. However if you open the canopy you can hear his engine. But as soon as you close it, its a quiet as if a 1200hp wasnt running 10m away from you.
Is this a result of the somewhat buggy new sounds or is it actually an attempt to get rid of the "sonar sound" bug, assuming that most players fly with the canopy closed...?!?? In either case its a step in the right direction I think although I would like somehow to able to hear at least something when im sitting in the cockpit with my engine off....

Can someone else confirm this??

Best regards

Shot down two spits last night both from 6 O-Clock and both didn't know I was there...great!

Think there is still some work to be done but it's more important to get rid of bugs that spoil game play and then they can work on the other stuff.

Do you think you would hear the engine of an aircraft 100m behind you even if you engine was off and the cockpit was shut? I'm not so sure.

it actually doesnt matter 1m, 10m, 100m... There is no external sound whatsoever when canopy is closed...

Of course the cockpit is open, jeez you Blues know nothing.......ever tried kneeling on the seat, getting yer tool kit out and trying to fix the throttle assembly with the cockpit closed? Thought not!

And yeah...... another thing.....the rear view mirror don't friggin' work either, which is really desirable when a BF109 is sneaking up yer ass........

I tried tonight in a Spit ... with open cockpit you can hear the 109's very well. With closed cockpit the noise is more muffled.

Cheers!
