Hurricane tips?

Hi,

New to this sim, i'm wondering how to fight in both Hurricanes we have in COD...
Rotol is kind of ok, but the first one is...aweful :(

BF 109 looks like jets fighters against me, and i even just can't approach their six...(might be historical though!)
With this 2 positions prop pitch, it is either way too much RPM or way too low
Negative G are making engine coughing as soon as i push slightly the stick.
I know we have to barrel roll to avoid it, and keep positive G, but following a target six is quite impossible for me this way.
(I think i could do much better in a WW1 Spad!)

How do you manage it, to have a chance to follow and bring down a 109? (if there is one chance!)

After many years in the original IL-2 and COD from before 'Day One' (My instalation - like many others - worked before the official Western release ) I'ld say fly the Hurricane like any other bit of kit! Kick the tires, Put the throttle to the firewall and treat her like your woman!

Jump in ther at least five times a day and take her to Heaven and back! WOOF!

;)

Are you Playing single-Player? If yes, I have to tell you that i feel the same way. The unrealistic AI makes it almost impossible to bring down a 109. Try Boom & Zoom(Youtube will explain), that´s probably the only thing you can do....

Yeah, SP...
BZ, i kind of know it (am a Spad lover  in ROF) but as soon as you reach a 109 good aiming point, before you pull the trigger, he is going in crazy rolls :(

So never engage unless altitude advantage? God, the 109 are so fast in climb i'm never gonna be above them! lol

What's the best in dogfight: keeping prop pitch forward or backward? (only 2 position)
Forward, the engine is screaming like hell and zero speed while backward i don't have enough RPM to keep it up

Youre facing the dilema faced by the real hurri drivers at the time, thats why 2 position props were phased out asap, typically if youre in a slow speed turning fight you'll need fine pitch (high rpm) for better acceleration and the power needed to climb, but if you are trying to achieve high speed you need coarse pitch (low rpm).

You must use this AI fix http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=31193

and http://www.bobgamehub.blogspot.com/2...-of-dover.html

Also use Rotol with variable prop-pitch at 2600 RPM IIRC (correct me if I am wrong).

I think it is modelled more correctly here (with no supercharger, lol. Known issue in RoF as far as I know.). Do not push stick. Instead head 15-20 degrees to left or right then roll 60-80 degrees to your wing to see the 109 below and use rudder to loose alt keeping positive G if needed. But generally it is better to keep alt and not go down after the 109 but wait till he goes up again (at least online).

Yes, i saw that, but i'm flying Desastersoft campaign...

 idem as above

Yeah, i love it the way it is modelled in COD (way better than in ROF Spads).
But that's damn hard to not forget about those negative G!

That's a good tip! Nevertheless, i tried some kind of same, and it's very hard at first
Fighting in a 109 is so easy in regard of those Hurrys...lol

Not sure they know about the fix. Maybe you can call support and they send you back new version. It should take 1 minute per mission to fix. They charged good money for the campaign it and are helpful from what I read in another thread.

I do not know how this campaign is programmed but you should be able to make the changes yourself according to HeinKill instructions probably. (and also replace the Hurricane :) )
