Convergence unit of measurement?

I read somewhere that convergence is in meters while gunsights are in yards...is this true? Should I be making the unit conversion in my sights?

That's true, however with gunsight you should just set it to suit the wingspan of your target aircraft at a certain distance, then that distance when the reticle encompasses the enemy that is the distance for your convergence... uh I think..

As a rough estimate to convert from Yards to Metres add a third again and from Metres to yards subtract

Yes - loading screen is in meters
Range in game is in yards
Wingspan in game is in feet

For 150 yards, enter 136 / 136 in the convergence settings (136m = 150yards), then in game set your gunsight to 150 yards (range). Wingspan 32ft for 109 and adjust to whatever you will encounter.

Just the confirmation I needed. Thank you.

A third? A yard is over 90% of a metre, not 66%

1 yd = 0.9144 m

I believe all measurements in the sim are in metres: Plane convergence settings, icon distance, dotrange etc.

The only time its different is in RAF aircraft where gunsights are set in yards (could also affect RAF bombsights, not sure). Decide on your preferred shooting range, say 200yds. This converts to 183 metres which is what you set in the Plane Gunsight convergence. In the Hurri or Spitfire cockpit set the gunsight range to 200yds. Don't forget to set the wingspan too, default is 30 feet (Me 109 is 32 feet - I think all wingspans are in the manual).

EDIT: ooops I missed Robo's post. Same story.

Is it possible that the German planes is in feet?...I don't think you can save a value below 100, whatever 100 is:confused:...you see I would like to set to 70M

If you mean convergence, the RAF gunsight range will only go down to 150 yds (164m). You can set wingspan from 30 feet upwards.

If you are setting range to 70m then just get right in close, fill the circle (Bf109), squeeze the trigger and close your eyes :)
