steam and missing adsl connection...help
Hi all, I ask for your help:
until yesterday I did not find interest in discussions about 'steam' or not 'steam'. It never was an issue to be permanently logged to a net service cause I have (..had) a Adsl flat account. I say until yesterday cause a major damage occurred to the telephone wiring system of the whole building where I live. So for the next 20 days I'll be off line from CloD servers. I thougt it wasn't no more than a boring situation until I realized that I can't even play Clod in single player mode cause 'steam' rejects my attempt to log in 'off line' mode. How to solve this situation? How to play in single player mode bypassing steam? Cheers |

It does my head in. This is not much different to DRM where a connection is required to play.

As you might predict, their support service was no assistance whatsoever with this. Septic. |
You need a online connection to steam to get in offline mode .
If you in offline mode there is no problem. So only solution, go to a friend or use a free hotspot and make a connection to the internet, start steam go in offline mode return to home and play single player. This is one of the weired things by steam:( |

But it is very buggy- my desktop goes into offline mode if I disconnect from the internet without a trouble, same if I start up the pc when there is no internet- I go straight into offline mode. My laptop simply wont go into offline mode, seems like a lucky dip if it will work or not. Strange. |
What happens if you loose Steam connectivity is this:
Steam crashing doing this is sad but not common. Also there's no pop up message anymore - that was ages ago. I have validated this again just now. That said it's not such a big deal anymore. But it might depend on if you had steam switched to offline mode already or not, I'm not sure on this. But it's totally possible to start steam in offline mode these days (gladly). This was different a few months ago. |
