The "Il-2 Sturmovik: 1946"-CD contains version 4.071m and a patch to version 4.08m.

So you'll have to (and exactly in this order):
  1. buy and install "Il-2 Sturmovik: 1946" (make a backup by just copying the directory)
  2. Execute patch 4.08m (in the CD). Make a backup.
  3. Download and install patch 4.09m. Make a backup.
  4. Download and install the 4.09 skinpack, which is not mandatory (but recommended) and cannot be installed later. Make a backup.
  5. Download and install patch 4.10m. Make a backup.
  6. Download and install patch 4.10.1m. Make a backup.
  7. Download and install patch 4.11. Make a backup.
  8. Download and install Beta Hotfix for 4.11 (at the bottom of the first post). Make a backup.

Other Locations:
4.08m: @mission4today.com
4.09m: @mission4today.com
4.09m SkinPack: @mission4today.com
4.10m: @mission4today.com
4.10.1: @mission4today.com

To be totally accurate, 4.10.1 does not have to be installed. You can go from 4.10 straight to 4.11.

Possibly. I did not test it

Another dispute concerns the "cannot be installed later" in

Some doubt if that is true.

But: As both does not take too much time, I prefer to play it save.:)

And last but not least: I never regretted a backup I made, but once regrettet one I did not make.

Indeed, for the 65774h time, the 4.09m Skinpack is purely a skinpack which changes the default skins. It does not change the game version in any way, or affect online commonality.
