Shadows Settings

I have noticed that the main things that cause fps drops and stutter in my game are:

a) Dust and clouds (something to do with transparency?)
and
b) Shadows!

Basically, I love the shadows on the aircraft and cockpit, but hate the fact that this necessitates shadows from trees, buildings, dust and explosions (double wammy much?). Is there any way (in game or using file editing) to disable landscape shadowing??

Any response would be much appreciated.

PS: I noticed the shadow method is different to older games, resulting in specularity (The dotting effect) and reducing framerate, perhaps simpler shadows (like arma2's low shadow setting) would be a possibilty?

Hopefully the upcoming patch will fix dust/smoke/shawdows,etc. fps loss. Not sure of your machine specs.,would help if you had that in your signature. :)

Same issues here, even with a 3 gig video card..so its definitely something up with the graphics engine and not us.
