is there any early war guncam footage?
or where guncams introduced much later? would love to see something from 1939.

A lot of alleged BoB footage is actually later in the war. unfortunately there is a lot of "history channel" style footage about where historical accuracy is less important then a sensation commentary and an exciting video.
Some of this seems a possibility ... http://youtu.be/5nMc_HJO0RU Maybe also in here though much of it is clearly later war ... http://youtu.be/Zv8rFPLN_Fg and possibly in these (but ignore voice over commentary he is an idiot) ... http://youtu.be/PyY5AHqiTm4 http://youtu.be/BLkMPWGK8Ik http://youtu.be/HlmLocsl4pg |
Some of the footage in the first link is Eastern front stuff... Some is propaganda with captured aircraft...I can't be sure about the rest.
I wouldn't say the commentator is an idiot, but whoever paid him and wrote his lines sure is ;) (Ok, I'm being pedantic, I know). Remember that one where the guy talks about modern soviet fighters introduced in 1941, and the clip shows a MiG-15? That was golden. Back on topic, I think guncams were introduced before the war, but the footage probably wasn't interesting enough to put into a "blockbuster" style psuedo-documentary. Instead we get the same recycled stuff, often repeating many times throughout the episode. |
thanks guys, specifically i was hoping to see air to air footage from the Polish campaign, would be very very interesting.

thanks, am aware (and do speak german), but, no air to air footage. there is very brief scene though of a straffing run at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXiFJ...ature=youtu.be
at 5:28, which looks to be a 2 engine plane and therefore should be the PZL 37, maybe. if anyone knows of any definite Poland campaign footage, then would be grateful, have never come across any and would be great to see at P.11 or PZL-37 'in action'. |
