Sound on engine startup

Hi, I just got the game and everything is working fine except for sound when starting up the planes.

The issue is when starting the plane up as the sound is very choppy and sounds like there is some bug between the sound channels. I only tried the spitfire and moth so far and its the same on both.

I thought potentially it was my sound card or issue with my sound setup but ive tried switching between 5.1 and 2 channel and the outcome is the same

Has anyone else had the same problem or is there a fix for it?

I think it's your engines not being warm yet? The engine tends to sound choppy when you first start it up and give it some throttle because it's not warmed up yet. Give it a couple minutes at idle before trying to take off.

If this really is a sound issue then I got no idea :)

I have said the same thing in threads... when the engoine is at idle, no sound, when you rev it past a point, the sound starts in, and smooths out with more rpm.. and then the sound cuts out again, when I lower the throttle..

I have been saying this since I bought CLOD..

Yep this happened to me too last night. I think it's a (suprise!) bug with the sound engine.

Hi, (Bump)
I've been having this for some time. Is there a fix for it. Initially the startup sounds all worked fine now they're not. Short of doing a full reinstall is there anything out there for this?

Cheers,

OD.

P.S I am having this with all aircraft, not just the Spitfire or the Tiger Moth. I get it with all Hurricanes, the 109 and the G.50.

I know there's not been any response to this, but it seems to have progressed to removing the gun sounds now.

Is this something addressed in the upcoming patch?

BUMP again!
I've recently started playing the game again, there was a STEAM update which fixed the sound, I had gunfire and the engine starting up. This worked for a couple of games and now it has gone again.
At the moment I have no sound for the following:

Engine Startup - sound kicks in when past certain revs

Gunfire - Either mine or enemy

Damage - Either to my aircraft or inflicting it on another aircraft.

There may be more but these are the key ones which are bugging me. Is there any way to resolve this? I am using an onboard Realtek sound card and 5.1 headphones running through the jacks and not USB.

It would be great if there was some kind of reply, even if to say it hasn't been fixed.

The only thing I can suggest is to make sure sound is turned up full in the Options/Sound GUI ingame, and adjust the sound volume downwards (as necessary) using Windows Mixer.

Hi,
Thanks for that but it is nothing to do with the volume settings. This is a bug in the game, it is certainly bugging me at the moment, and I was wondering whether there was a fix for it.

ATAG_Snapper 11-19-2012 06:13 PM

Fair enough. Others reported the same problem as you and reported this fixed it. YMMV, of course.
