SoW , Hyperlobby and Dedicated Servers

Greetings to all 1C community members.

You'll have to excuse me if any of this has been addressed in the past , as i'm quite new to browsing this forum in depth.

My questions are basically...

1. Will SoW be Hyperlobby compatible or only hosted Ubisoft?

2. Will there be server dedicated server software created by 1C themselves to go along with the new game ?

My concern is historically that IL2SC and FBD2 have been well...cryptic , lacking in comprehensive and non-conflictive instructions......requiring tweaking for full use....and hmmm, at least one of the creators of either of software is well. defunct i believe .....

What a revolution it would be to have server software created by 1C , compatible with Hyperlobby or Ubisoft ....server software that is comprehensibley built , well explained , has the range of options like FBD and IL2SC included and simply utilized , stats , server messages, bells and whistles that have usualy taken pulling teeth to get out of FBD2 and il2sc.

I think at this point 1C would see the value of dedicated and EXCELLENT accompanying server software, so that the magic of this game can be fully realized by the most customers possible.....

Thanks- Eries

I guess you will get closer to the answer once 1C starts programming the multiplayer-part.

Thanks for posting some answers to my questions, They were included in another post about the same subject. Kudos to 1C for thier answers. Much appreciated.

Now that hopefully 1C is in its last efforts before release, they may address possibly any more information about Hyperlobby , Server managers and some intentions they feel comfortable speaking about.

With Jiri now gone from Hyperlobby , and the absence of any moderators to speak of , Hyperlobby has become quite a troll haven and not the place for educated and adult fliers that it was for so many years.

There are a number of Hyperlobby users who delight in donning the tags of squads they do not like and pretending to be them , and are actively trying to cause trouble and bring good squads names into disrepute. One only has to read Hyperloby forums to get a glimpse of what the state of Hyperlobby is now....

Without Jiris support SoW cannot be hosted on Hyperlobby. Possibly has 1C spoken to him about his intentions?

Can you speak more about server manager software that may be supplied with game?

Will you create an server browser within the game itself?

Have you considered some form of registration of names within the game to allow organized squads to protect thier names ?

Thanks so much for your consideration,
Eries

Im just bumping this a bit.
Those of us that run a dedicated server on Hyperlobby would like to be prepared for the transition to SoW.
As well, we hope the server manager sofware will be user friendly , flexible and reliable .
I hope that other server operators who frequent this board may post some ideas , suggestions etc and or comments in this thread regarding what they hope for regarding the server manager software.
Maintaining some statistics had always been popular , and the integration of stats programs with SoW and the relavent server programs will be something of great interest to many.
So any input or comments by the Devs here is most welcome and appreciated. As well, its good to hear from anyone with any thoughts on this .

best regards and thanks,
Eries

Please excuse another bump. I hope possibly to keep the discussion regarding possible SOW:BOB Dedicated Server software alive and encourage 1C to post any new developments or possibilities.

Thanks - Eries

Hello mate, Its a bit early in the day to be talking about multi player, all the indications point to the game still not being out of Alpha stage has yet (or even in it). With another 12-16 months to go before a possible release. Also Ubisoft appear to be no longer involved in the project.

You could try posting your question in this thread http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=6909 although Oleg has not responded to any questions for months. Good luck.

If 1C actually make a server to host a lobby on, will people stay with it?, or will they jump ship, scatterring people over various different lobbies like HL, ACE, etc... and eventually kill off the game online. We all know that over time, people do become a little bored with playing the same game over many years and there becomes only the diehard people left who really do love the genre, scatter these few across different lobbies, and then, theres lots of tiny communities on software which quite frankly could become unsupported at any moment soon as the 1 person that made it says enoughs enough, i have better things to do in life than write software and spend time and money on things that are just for other peoples pleasure. i played IL2 since it was first released in UBI lobby for the first 5-6 years, it was only when there became so few people on UBI lobby that our squad decided to go over to HL. and to be honest, i found it deeply dissapointing in many ways (technically, its a lot more basic compared to UBI lobby and unprofessionally written peice of software (a prime example is that for years it didnt even detect your screen res and adjust the program to fit properly to your screen with you enterring unix-esq commands that you had to dig around in a manual to find out!), and secondly, the community is absoluteley no different from UBI community anyway, in fact, on HL i found people obsessed with keeping their game rooms for only Elite pilots etc... to keep out any TK'ers etc... but on UBI i very rarely ever had issues with TK'ers and i would go as far to say UBI community was better for this very reason. Granted most of the games being hosted were not on real switch settings but whats to stop some people from starting to host some?!). So ended my online gaming on IL2. I wasnt prepared to download various other lobbies chasing the community around (and asking my squad to also do the same) while they flippantly changed their mind on what was the latest lobby buzzword. UBI was good enough, but the community never bothered to make an effort to make it good imho.

undeserving. community needs to stick with 1C lobby if 1C make one.
the comments i made are my own opinion based on my experiences.

It would be nice if Oleg was in a position to release the server manager prior to the game being released , so that the moment the game hit the shelves , there were servers online to use......Unless of course he remedies that by hosting some servers of his own until the community catches up and gets their own servers online.

Rgr TREE , its still early more than likely ...Though I'm not sure if anyone but Oleg is in a position to determine if its early or late..... ( lol ? )

Olegs comments on servers are in this forum somewhere....Ill take some time to look and repost some of the specific comments to this thread... that should possibly bring some legitimate value to this thread......(finally :) )
