Nvidia profile conflict driver 290.53
Nvidia added a profile called "WRC 2 Fia World Rally 2011" this game is using launcher.exe as its executable also. If you have Wings of prey ....also launcher.exe.....DCS series as well(but this in turn launches DCS.exe so that profile is ok)
This has been a problem with Nvidia drivers for years as it doesn't appear to differentiate other than to look for a program running. Programs that use generic names like this give the profiler headaches, if you try to create a new profile pointed to launcher.exe you will not be able to delete it, the profiler will lock up and stop responding if you try. Theres only 2 ways to fix this , either do a driver reinstall and select the clean install option or go into Nvidia inspector and manually delete the refrence to the .exe in the profile. Nvidia profiler is too stupid to determine which game is actually running since it has no way to tell it does no hash checks or anything. I've emailed Nvidia tech support several times on this and they just don't respond or ever fix it. They never read their forums either.... Plea to developers please rename the .exe to something else that doesn't conflict with other programs. IL2COD.exe or something. Nvidia will never fix it because they would have to rewrite their profiler. Workaround: use Nvidia inspector and delete the profile for "WRC 2 Fia World Rally 2011" |
Thanks for this, Slayer. I've often wondered why the 1C devs would choose such a generic executable name as "launcher.exe". I figure there's a reason for everything, but this one eludes me!

Good idea Slayer.

I feel your pain.
Are the games affected purchased through STEAM by any chance? Because, I'm pretty sure launcher.exe is a generic starter app for STEAM apps. |
Wings of prey is a Yuplay game but ya same deal.

your not the only one who's sent nvidia a email.
