Help with windows xp key
 

Hi guys.

My girlfriends laptop was updating windows xp as it does, and the next time she tried to turn it on she had a corrupt file and naturally it wouldn't boot. So i've run the repair setup for her with the original disc but she thinks she might have thrown out the packaging when she moved home. She has her Mum on the case now, looking for it.

Either way, im not asking for a keygen or a cheat or anything like that.

I'm wondering if i can access her laptop hard drive via my PC and find the disc key in her registry. Any ideas if that is possible? Maybe it's as simple as USB connection.

If i can't access her hard drive and registry, what options are there other than to buy a new copy of xp for her?
