New system build - COD surprise

Hi all,

i just finished a new computer build which id been wanting to do since christmas.

SPECS:

Intel i7 2700k o/c @4.7Ghz (done by a professional - coz i didnt want to screw anything up)
Asus p8z68 mobo
16GB 1600Mhz ram
Asus gts 450 (i know this card is crap - im upgrading to a gtx 570 in a few months)
corsair 650W TX
500GB WesternDigital Cavier HDD

I then went about benchmarking it on certain games; Arma 2, Crysis 2, Call of duty and Battlefield 3 to see what performance i would get on different style of games. now ive had my il-2 uninstalled for about 3 months now seeing as i was gutted about the bugs and problems with it, but last night i re installed it to see how much my hardware had helped the game, and i have to say i pretty impressed

I was able to play at everthing above medium, most things on high with shadows and grass on at 1600x900. I had been previously been playing at 1240x720 with eveything on medium, so im very pleased with my build and it seems that the new patches are helping the game be what it should have been on release.

Hope you enjoy,

AdamB

------p.s. this is not a thread critisising the game, but just informing people that i have seen a great improvement and i thank 1c for sticking with this game and not just dissappearing to work on a new project.

You throw a 2GB video card like a 560, 570, or 580 and your performance will increase by a lot. That's a lot of RAM and a screaming processor. Enjoy.

Don't get a 570GTX! AMD and Nvidia are coming out with new cards!

Aren't they always? The 570 runs the game fine with everything on max and will be nice n cheap fairly soon!

Then again, if they start releasing weather systems and features to scare the opposition, who knows? Maybe a bit of future proofing would be wise.

Throw in an SSD there and that will probably make a difference, did for me anyways. Harddrives being ridiculously expensive now anyway thanks to the floods in Thailand.

Wow!! 16Gbs is alot of RAM. DDR3 is so cheap though so why not?! lol

But congrats on the system! Hope you have many hours of fun with CloD!

I can't wait for the GTX 600 series to go gold. I'm snagging a 680 asap. I love my 560 Ti 2Gb but it's not quite enough power for CloD the way I want to run it... 100% maxed out. Also can't wait to see the Ivy Bridge's come out. Computer builds are so exciting!

I am looking forward to the new nvidia cards! Don't think its going to be the 600 series, skipping to 700 (remember no 300 series)! The current 500 gpus 'suck' in the sense that they are stupdily big and power hungary. We need small cards, less power hungary but packing lots of ram and drive!!!

Need to start saving!

Yeah I have decided to jump to nivdia for my next card, ATI are rubbish at the moment.

dont be too exited for the new ivy bridge.

its based on the sandybridge architechture but with power enhancements and what i think intel is calling the HD5000 - i.e. the upgrade from current intergrated graphics. if im correct in what ive read ivy bridge will make hardly any difference for gaming, it will just require less power to do the same job but it has slight improvements on the sandybridge as well as being made to the 22nm scale, i belive.all i need for the future is a super fast gfx card and then my computer should be able to run most things maxed out

No, we need super fast CPU. If I turn down everythig possible even then I can´t get 60FPS steady over land. And that is i5-2500K 4,7GHz with GTX480. Maybe the Ivy bridge will be even better overclockable than sandy bridge. Who knows
