Don't they have better things to do?

Maybe it's all those sheep/cows/rabbits and civilian vehicles I shot up in ArmA II?, or perhaps that ocean liner I sank in SH4? OH, now I remember...

It's really strange how you manage to turn this "...Serious violations of the laws of war can only be committed in real-life situations, not in video games."

Into this, "The ICRC Thinks We May Be War Criminals.."

Don't you have anything better to do than slagging off the International Red Cross & Red Crescent organisation?

The link I posted was posted by the ICRC after the gaming news media posted the results of the discussion meeting at the 31st. ICRC Conference. In other words, they are trying to deflect bad press by spinning it as not important. But then why discuss it at all then if they are not thinking about interfering?

Sorry but I have no trust in any group of bureaucrats who think it's their job to meddle in anyone's private affairs. A bunch of hand wringing nannys is all they are, at least in this case.

raaaid 12-10-2011 12:58 PM

well it may not be the case

wwii pilots would have litle training

besides only one in four given the moment really shoots to kill

but oh boy they had the nasible and time travel tech

so they took the most trained and best pilots in human evolution and they didnt let them know the GAME wAS REAL

so man be carefull dont do in the game what you would do in life

my job for the rebel alliance is mainly conquering timelines by wormhole racing into the past

they call us minute men

to me it looks like im setting a world record at a racing game but in this contest as everything trully is though disguised i conquer a full time line

hey they even tell about it on tv

NOTICE THE REMOTE CONTROL MACHINE:

also notice the momified hand ;)

yeah according my dreams in the future i lose a hand

hope those transhuman robotic hands are any good

Don't worry.

You have the permission and order to shot at every red cross ship/aircraft of the enemy from Winston Churchill personally.

Even if they try to save your own life.

Actually I wouldn't mind if destruction of red cross truck counted a friendly kill.

OMG

Call me silly.. but when I read stuff like that I think to myself..

Maybe a world wide depression is not such a bad thing after all..

Why?

Well because the people like the ones at ICRC who clearly have too much time on thier hands to ponder such silly thing things may be forced to get off thier A and find a real job to feed thier faces

To be fair to the ICRC, they aren't accusing people playing video games of being war criminals - they actually say the exact opposite: "violations of the laws of war can only be committed in real-life situations, not in video games".

As to whether the ICRC should be involved in making comments on video games, I think that they are entitled to their opinions, as is anyone else.

Agreed, it's too bad a publicized discussion can cause so much rancor (but I suppose complainers will complain and whiners will whine...)
